“If happiness is the goal - and it should be, then adventures should be a priority. “
Before the world went on lockdown, I have always been a fan of going out of my comfort zone. I love some good adrenaline rush. I loved travelling to different places and really immersing myself to their culture.
One country I’m head over heels with is Costa Rica.
For those who don’t know, Costa Rica is a country in Central America known for its lush environment and unrivaled outdoor activities. Because of this, it is the most visited country in Central America too.
I have met the warmest and most welcoming people in Costa Rica. No doubt that their motto is living life to the fullest or “Pura Vida” as they like to call it.
The country is blessed by waterfalls and lots of national parks. Getting around was easy. You can choose to go by foot, by bus or by Uber if you’re feeling fancy. Whichever way is nice but I prefer walking. I love how my eyes can feast in all the country’s wonders while smelling the fresh air.
Again, this was way back to those ancient times when wearing masks is not mandatory.
They have the most amazing food too, by the way. I remember passing by a lot of stores and buying fruits with the help of my Spanish. If you don’t speak Español, however, don’t fret. Most Costa Ricans speak English as well.
I can’t even explain how refreshing their fruits are. I always ate fruits every after meal.
I took a full day to explore the coffee plantations just outside the city of San Jose too. As an avid coffee-drinker, this is one of those things I would not want to miss. It’s amazing to see how coffee is made from fresh beans. Just its aroma can already make your day. I’d like to describe my first sip of Costa Rica’s brew truly magical.
And for the best part, the adventure.
There were a lot of options to choose from. What caught my attention right away was the Rainforest Adventures tour. I was feeling so hyped and excited as we cross the hanging bridge and marvel through the jungle.
I was thinking about ziplines every step I took. It got more and more exhilarating as we climbed up the treetops.
I honestly can’t remember how many ziplines there were because I just enjoyed every moment I’m in one. I’m just so happy. I felt grounded and aligned.
I went from the easiest to the hardest and longest zipline. It’s a good thing I’m not afraid of heights. I enjoyed every bit of it. Had it been my fear, I’d probably not survive even the easiest one. But man, oh man, the views were so amazing. It’s green everywhere. It was so perfect.
I miss Costa Rica. I miss all the adventures we can so easily take pre-Covid. Although we can visit more places now, it still feels different in a way. As much as possible, I don’t want to take chances and prioritize my safety first.
Yes, I took the vaccine shots. Still, it’s better safe than sorry. In the meantime, I look back to the best outdoor adventure of my life. I reminisce the moments that took my breath away.
Costa Rica will always have a place in my heart just like every outdoor adventure destination is. I can’t wait to be back.
