This morning I woke up thinking what if?
What if I only have today to live my best life?
What if life knocks me down, what are the goals I want to set for myself?
What if I do not make it to fifty years, what kind of legacy would I leave behind?
These were the types of questions I was asking myself. Are these the types of questions you asked yourself every day? You see, having our goals set brings clarity for us. We make it easier to set a foundation for ourselves and the next generation.
So, if they are the typical questions you asked yourself on a daily basis, I can help you answer them. What you need to know about setting up your goals is that, your goals must be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely). However, many people don’t always set up goals that are SMART.
Have you ever found yourself each year setting up new year resolution goals? “Comes January first I am going to start a new diet” so you say. But as the months go by, you get off the wagon and completely lose focus on the goal. What happened is that, you find yourself wrapped in the life cycle of saying that you are going to do something and never do it, instead of taking action steps towards completing the actual goal with a specificity to achieve it at a precise day and time. I am inviting you to set your goals, not for today but for the future because it will help you become the best version of yourself.
It is up to you to get up and start writing your goals. Everything you want to do requires to have the right mindset and attitude. When you set your mind to go after your goals, you are breaking the cycle. Don’t get stuck in the same cycle of setting up goals and never achieve them at the end. Nothing in life is done easily, I think I learned that fairly well so I can now guide you to know why you should set goals.
It is time you decide to put time on your dreams and write your goals. But before setting up the goals, ask yourself these questions:
Your dreams are yours and the only one who can make them come true is you. Therefore, when you talk about your dreams get in the habit of writing them down. One of the best follow up method is to learn to keep track of thoughts and jot down your ideas on a piece of paper and revisit your notes.
